Between Form and Emptiness
I have heard that there once existed a space between the outside and the inside. That this void has the ability to speak to our emotions, it is sincere and pure in its' communication. This careful balance has distanced itself from the current state of awareness, but maybe we can begin to reclaim these emotions of our reality.
- This is my first attempt into retrieving something from this strange land. This collection aims to promote a sort of digression and transition from a active mind to a peaceful state of reflection. Here the ritual before bedtime serves as my narrative platform.
Chapter 1: Entry
Entry acts as a signifier. It is the gateway into another realm of mindfulness. It is a symbol that allows us to become aware of the coming transition into a different space; a bridge embedded with an unwavering feeling of passage. Stepping on the Entry mat will trigger the main light in the following phase of "Rest" to slowly dim on.
Chapter 2: Rest
Rest is the phase of personal mindfulness. A quality of lightness exists within this space, the soul is allowed to flow within this stream, so we linger physically and wander emotionally protected by a sense of safety and trust. As you enter the phase of Rest you feel the light grow brighter. Here you can rest comfortably and be showered by the warmth glow of the light.
Chapter 3: Drift
Drift is the moment we begin to tune out of the conscious world and submit to our unconsciousness. In this space you shed the remainder of any lingering matters. You are finally released from present reality and drift off into your dreams. As you set your belongings down for the night and lightly press the tray, it triggers the Drift night stand to glow on and the light in the previous phase to dim off.
